How thick is the pipette tip?

The thickness of the pipette tip mainly depends on the end that connects to the pipette and the diameter of the tip at the front end for liquid collection. The differences among tips of different ranges are quite obvious.

The smallest one is the 10 μL pipette tip, and this is the thinnest of all. 

The tail part that matches the pipette gun has a very small diameter, approximately ranging from 0.7 to 0.8 millimeters. The entire device is also very slender. The inner diameter of the sharp end is only 0.1 to 0.2 millimeters, which is extremely thin. It is specifically designed for precise sample collection and is unlikely to cause liquid blockage. 

Then comes the most commonly used 200 μL pipette tip, which is a bit thicker than the 10 μL one. 

The outer diameter of the connection end is approximately 0.9 to 1.0 millimeters, the widest part of the tail is about 7 millimeters, and the inner diameter of the suction inlet at the front end is between 0.3 and 0.5 millimeters. It is of moderate thickness and is the most common specification in laboratories. 

A slightly larger one is the 1000 μL (1 mL) pipette tip, which is significantly thicker. 

The outer diameter of the connection position with the pipette is approximately 1.2 to 1.5 millimeters, the maximum diameter at the tail end is close to 9 millimeters, and the inner diameter of the opening at the front end is between 0.8 and 1.2 millimeters. This design is suitable for aspirating larger volumes of liquid. 

A larger-capacity 5 mL pipette tip, which belongs to the wide-bore pipette tip. 

The diameter of the tail can reach 12 to 16 millimeters, and the inner diameter at the front end is also thicker, usually around 2 to 4 millimeters. It is specially designed for use with large-capacity pipette guns. 

The largest 10 mL syringe tip is the thickest type. 

The outer diameter of the tail is approximately 18 millimeters, while the inner diameter at the front end is 3 to 5 millimeters. The whole device is thick and long, making it suitable for performing a large number of rapid liquid transfers.
