Visual inspection

Integrity: Carefully inspect the suction head for breakage, cracks, or notches, especially the tip and sidewall of the suction head, where damage can lead to fluid leakage or inaccurate suction.

Cleanliness: Check whether the surface of the suction head is clean and free of dust, stains, fingerprints, or other impurities. If there are impurities, it may contaminate the sample or affect the suction performance.

Deformation: Observe whether the suction head is deformed, such as bending, twisting or expanding. Deformed suction heads may not fit closely with the pipette and may result in inaccurate suction volume.

Specification matching check

Matching pipette: Verify that the specifications of the pipette head match those of the pipette used. Different models and specifications of pipettes need to be equipped with suction heads of the corresponding size and shape to ensure the sealing and adaptability between the two, to ensure accurate suction and drainage.

Meet the experimental requirements: Select the appropriate capacity of the liquid suction head according to the experimental requirements. For example, when conducting micro experiments, a precision suction head with a small range should be selected; For the transfer of a large amount of liquid, a large-capacity suction head is needed.

Functional testing

Suction function: You can absorb a small amount of water or a solution similar in nature to the experimental liquid, check whether the suction head can normally suck liquid, observe whether the liquid can smoothly enter the suction head, and whether there is blockage or no suction.

Drain function: drain the absorbed liquid, check whether the drain is smooth, whether it can be completely emptied, and whether there is no liquid residue. At the same time, pay attention to whether the liquid flows out in a column, and whether there is splashing or dripping phenomenon.

Tightness test: Put the suction head on the pipette, gently squeeze the pipette piston, and observe whether there is air leakage at the connection between the suction head and the pipette. If there is air leakage, it will lead to inaccurate suction amount and need to replace the suction head.
